NEWSLETTER CHANGES

WHAT CHANGES ARE HAPPENING?

  • The newsletter will move to 2x a month starting in May 2025.

  • You’ll receive the newsletters on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month.

  • You’ll have the opportunity to take part in the monthly ‘Colour Palette Play’ challenge using one of the colour palettes shared in the 1st newsletter.

WHAT IS STAYING THE SAME?

  • All the usual content contained in the newsletter be still be present - free pdf guide/worksheet, colour palettes, links to blog posts, news from my life as a designer etc.

WHO CAN SUBMIT ARTWORK TO THE MONTHLY CHALLENGE?

  • The monthly colour palette challenge is open to EVERYONE. All levels, abilities and mediums are welcome!

  • You are encouraged to either design a new pattern or use an existing one using ONE of the colour palettes shared.

  • If you create illustrations rather than pattern designs, you’re very welcome to join the colour challenge.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ARTWORK TO THE MONTHLY CHALLENGE?

  • Submit your work by replying to the 1st newsletter or emailing me directly at: hello@nicolarowedesigns.com with the subject line ‘COLOUR PALETTE CHALLENGE’ and including the artwork as an attachment.

  • Designs need to be submitted by the 3rd Thursday of each month to be considered for the newsletter e.g for this month of May - designs need to be submitted by Thursday 15th May at the latest.

  • Artwork should be a minimum of 800x800px square, JPEG at 72DPI in RGB and under 1MB in size.

  • Remember to add your name (or logo if you have one) to one of the corners of the image.

  • You are welcome to add a copyright watermark on or/across your image if you wish.

  • Include your instagram account handle in your email, if you are happy for your work to be featured on my account.

  • You are welcome to use any of the colour palettes shared in the newsletter. This may change in the future if I receive feedback that you’d like to see a more curated collection of designs i.e we all create using the same colour palette. Let me know your thoughts!

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY ARTWORK AFTER SUBMITTING?

  • You retain full copyrights to your work - always.

  • I will select a varied range of designs to show a broad variety of work. We all started as a beginner and while inspirational, it can feel disheartening to only see very polished and professional high level designs. My aim is to show ALL abilities in the newsletter with the focus on the unique use of colour rather than the professional ability.

  • I will feature selected designs to be featured on my Instagram account to give you individual designers some exposure and get eyes on your work.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE PART IN THE MONTHLY CHALLENGE?

  • There are a few reasons why you consider submitting your work:

    1. Visibility & Exposure
      Your work might be featured on my Instagram channels (dependent on the number of submissions), meaning more eyes on your designs, potential opportunities and increased confidence.

    2. Real-World Motivation
      Deadlines and goals help push your creative momentum. Submitting your work gives you a reason to finish something and feel proud of it. I will share each month when the deadline is but as a general guide you will have approx 10 days to submit your work from the date of the 1st newsletter as I will need a few days to look through the entries.

    3. Community Connection
      See your work alongside other creatives just like you. It’s awesome to see how everyone uses a colour palette in their own unique way plus hugely inspirational.

    4. Confidence Building
      Putting your work out there is a big step but every time you do it, you build confidence. The more you do it, the more fearless you become.

    5. Varied range of design abilities
      Subscribers to my newsletter are varied in their design ability and this is a great thing! It means if you’re a beginner, you can learnt from those more advanced and experienced. While if you’re a professional, it gives you the opportunity to build your portfolio with on-trend colour palettes. A win-win!
